Hormone Assay Core
The Hormone Assay Core performs radioimmunoassays on serum or plasma from blood samples. The results from these tests provide investigators with the quantitative hormone analyses necessary to determine the effects of sex hormones of the various aspects of physiological and pathophysiological function. These assays detect and quantify estrogens, including estrone and 17-estradiol; androgens, including testosterone, androstenedione and 5a-dihydrotestosterone; and, progesterone. Results are calculated using a log-logit program and all tests are subject to quality control programs that oversee both the inter- and intra-assay percent coefficient of variation.
